The NVR Mk. 1
Meet our first car, the NVR Mk. 1.
Following a great amount of research and development, we are proud to introduce the first major revision of our professional class car: the NVR Mk. 1! The car is a testament to our dedication to innovation and performance. This new iteration is the culmination of relentless designing, refinement and collaboration by our talented team members.
The NVR Mk. 1 is engineered from the ground up to address the technical challenges and exploit the aerodynamic opportunities within the professional class regulations.
Key Highlights
- Optimised Aerodynamics: As seen from the renders, the car features a sleek and streamlined body in our signature purple and white livery. By revising the contours of the chassis, we’ve significantly reduced drag while maintaining optimal downforce, especially at the rear. Making use of advanced design techniques like variable fileting, let us combine peak aerodynamic performance with strong connections between components (e.g. rear pods and the gas compartment).
- Refined Front Wing: The front wing has been designed to efficiently manage airflow over and around the front wheels. We’ve made the decision to rely on the gas canister for downforce generation, allowing us to minimise the surface area of the front wing for maximum efficiency.
- Integrated Halo: With the halo required in the regulations, the car has been built around it to ensure structural integrity and to minimise airflow disruption due to its unusual shape. The halo compartment has been carefully fileted into the chassis for smooth CNC manufacturing. A gradual loft was used to connect the halo to the gas compartment, reducing turbulence and drag.
- Unobtrusive Rear Wing: The rear wing has been optimised to work in harmony with the car’s overall aerodynamic profile. It has a low surface area and relies on the rest of the car to provide the downforce and low drag whilst not significantly increasing weight.
- Seamless Wheel Axles: The wheel axles have been designed to be flush with the bodywork and front wing, minimising drag and improving overall aerodynamic efficiency.
“With the initial design complete, we are excited to move into the CFD and refinement stage! The car will be imported into ANSYS we’ll begin simulating airflow around the car to identify areas for improvement. We look forward to sharing more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of innovation with the NVR Mk. 1!”
